One of my favourite photographic locations in Merseyside is Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ sculpture installation on Crosby Beach on the Mersey estuary. These four shots hopefully illustrate the wonderful winter daylight conditions I encountered there on Fri 15th Dec 2017. A sunny day, but windy and feeling much colder than the 3 deg C temperature. It was however, worth spending the cold 4 hours there for the fantastic sunset.
The 100 figures – casts of Gormley’s body – first appeared on Crosby beach back in 2005. Twelve years later the effects of salt water and wind have weathered and added colour & texture to the cast iron men.
Like good wine, ‘Another Place’ improves with age.
