Capturing the iconic Flying Scotsman? Yes, I finally managed to see and photograph Britain’s most iconic steam locomotive, the Flying Scotsman, this afternoon, as she steamed along the North Wales coast line.
A stunning piece of engineering, it was a sheer joy to see her, feel, smell and hear her as she thundered below us on her way to Holyhead.
This refurbished locomotive was originally built in 1923 and was the first steam locomotive to achieve a speed of 100mph in 1932. A great afternoon and worth the three hours we waited for the 40 seconds or so it took her to come and go from our bridge vantage point. I hope you enjoy my shots.
