Just read that on the BBC website that US scientists have identified the Arctic Ground Squirrel as a culprit in rising methane levels. Methane is a greenhouse gas, and rising levels in our atmosphere cause the ‘greenhouse effect’ raising global temperatures. As the polar permafrost thaws these poor critters are apparently releasing more methane by burrowing their tunnels. Sounds like ‘hot air’ to me, not the gas, but mankind blaming the squirrels.
