On Wednesday 3rd May 2017, I visited Wellingborough and District U3A group in Northamptonshire.
In the town’s URC church, known locally as the ‘pork pie’ due to its unique shape, over 230 people gave me a warm welcome and enjoyed my thought provoking presentation, ‘Welcome to the Anthropocene’. This talk is about the effects of mankind’s activities on our planet; effects including global warming, pollution, hydrocarbon depletion, species migration and extinction and ecosystem destruction.
Fortunately for the audience, the talk finishes on a positive note, looking at scientific and technical solutions being implemented to start reversing the damage caused, and to protect our fragile planet for future generations.
